By 1948, Hornet II had enjoyed a long and successful racing career. While he was working on two new hydroplane racing boats for the next racing season, Henry J. Kaiser Sr. took Hornet II, now renamed Fleur du Lac to Washington D. C. for one last major racing event, The President's Cup. Shown in this photograph speeding across the tidal basin is Fleur du Lac driven by Henry Kaiser (in a business suit), with famous bandleader Guy Lombardo (who would drive the boat in the race) in the right front seat, and Edgar F. Kaiser in the back seat. You will receive a beautiful 16 x 24 inch print of this famous black and white photograph, reproduced on a metallic base to accentuate the tones of the photograph.
